CTMH Camping Recipe Swap Results

I had the pleasure of participating in a swap with some fellow Close to My Heart consultants recently. Our task involved putting together some of our favorite Dutch Oven Recipes and making them ready to go into a 6" x 6" album.

I took the easy way out and made the cover page for the recipes. Above are the two versions I toyed with and then ended up submitting the second one. I left a small spot for the recipient to personalize their camping cookbook with their own title.

Here are the list of project supplies I used to complete my page:

X7110B Back Country Level 2 Paper Packet
1292 Crystal Blue Cardstock
X5642 Cocoa Cardstock
Z2140 Outdoor Denim Stamp Pad
Z2114 Cocoa Stamp Pad
Z2137 Olive Stamp Pad
B1328 Back Woods stamp set
C1279 Roughin' It stamp set
D1217 Free Spirit stamp set
Z1155 Clear Craft Buttons
Z534 Micro-Tip Scissors
Z1297 Edge Distresser
1772 Glue Dots
Z1090 Foam Texture Tool

Below you will see the rests of the pages that were made by the swap group participants. I was really pleased with how nice this set of recipes pages were.

I believe if you click on the pictures of each page you will be able to read the recipes too.

Now I just need to figure which recipe to try first!

Oh, and don't forget that there are only a few more days to take advantage of Close to My Heart's special incentive to join in July as a new consultant. See this link from earlier in the month that gives you the exciting details you want to remember: Choose Your Favorite Five in July

I will be thrilled to help you get your fun new business off to a fabulous start!

Rachel Goes to Camp (Again)

Well, once again this summer, we sent our baby off to camp. This time she is spending the week at band camp. It's a good thing she left with two pairs of comfortable shoes. I am pretty sure it's a bummer to spend 7+ hours every day marching in wet shoes!

Here, our baby gives us the evil eye for taking more photos even after boarding the bus for camp. Can you imagine our school had 5 buses full of kids heading off to band camp??? We have about 25% of our high school population in our band. Pretty impressive, I must say.

We can't wait to hear all about her adventures at the end of the week.

Life's A Jungle Around Here

So, I am feeling quite frazzled lately. My "to do" just keeps growing. I cross two things off, but have four more to add each day. LOL

With that in mind, I thought it was appropriate to share this fun card that expresses how I am feeling right now.

This showcases the fun stamp set, Life's A Jungle along with paper from the Game On Level 2 kit. I colored in the animals with Close to My Heart's watercolor pencils then went over my coloring with the Blending Pen to soften the effect.

I also came up with an easy-peasey 6" x 6" matching envelope by using our envelope flats. I cut a piece of the B&T paper from Game On to line the envelope flat. Then, I applied adhesive to form the completed envelope. Very simple. Now, if the rest of my life could be so easy!

Oh, I almost forgot! These adorable animals just demand googley eyes, so, of course, that's what I gave them. I hope you find some fun in your busy day today.

And We Have A Winner!

This past Thursday evening I held my Goody Box Swap Party. We got together to see what others received in their Goody Boxes from the June Deal-A-Day specials. Then we traded what we had duplicates of or just couldn't use with some treasures others wanted to swap. I think we had a great time! I know I loved to see everyone's great stuff.

I drew a winner from those who made website purchases during June for a how-to book of their choice. Our happy winner was Trina! She choose to receive a FREE copy of "Reflections" scrapbooking program. Hurray! I can't wait to see what she creates with that great reference book and all her loot from June.

"Happy Birthday" to My Boys Card

I needed to create something special, but somewhat manly, for our twin boys birthday on Thursday.

Of course I looked to the new cardmaking how-to book from Close to My Heart, "Wishes."

Take some Emporium Level 2 B&T paper along with coordinating cardstock and "Voila!" I had a nice 6" x 6" card to make a big statement to my kiddos.

The acrylic stamp sets I chose for these cards included: Happy Birthday, Solos "1," Solos "2," and Festivities. I added some foam squares on a couple of elements for a 3-D effect to pop them up off the card.

For some simple finishing touches, I used a piece of twill ribbon and a pewter Bigger Brad.

Hopefully the card was manly enough for the boys while getting my point across about their special day!

We Survived (and Really Enjoyed) Green Day

This was the "before" photo for our fun trip to see Green Day in concert. The "after" photo was not suitable for posting! ha ha

We were so wilted after all the singing, dancing, shouting, and screaming. Wow! Oh, and the girls made a little noise too!

Seriously, I was very impressed by what a great showman Billie Joe Armstrong proved to be. He was very in tune with the audience. He made a point to include several audience members onstage. He had some kids singing, playing his guitar, and most fun of all, manning the Super Soaker!

Oh, and Rebekah was excited to see that the concert was being recorded. Our fingers are crossed that it may end up as part of a concert DVD.

Well, It Is Official! I am OLD!

Our dear sons turn 21 today. Where have the years gone?

I do remember having twins and many days thinking, "Gosh, I can't wait until they are older and can fend for themselves, because I am exhausted!" Well, today would be that day, I suppose, when they are officially fending for themselves, and you know I would love some of those earlier days back.

We did not have a digital camera when they were babies, so I will share a snapshot of them from Christmas 2001. They were 12 in this shot and cooperating with each other to open a gift addressed to the both of them.

Now, let me be the first to tell you that since we have often called them, "Night" and "Day" there were many an instance where cooperation was not their strong suit. LOL However, we have been truly blessed with such terrific boys. I have heard other parents with complaints about all the troubles they have suffered through with their kiddos, but we really haven't had too much to complain about over the years.

So, even though I saw my first gray hair arrive only months after their birth, I still thank God for our twin blessings.

Adam & David helping their sister with an art homework project on Thanksgiving 2008.

Hug your babies today if you can. Mine are many hours away from us on their special day.

4th of July Parade of Fun

I think I'll let our photos do the talking for me. You can see we had a gorgeous day and evening for the town parade, where our sweet girl played the trumpet. Our evening was just perfect for a great view of the fireworks being shot off over the bay, from both our town and the neighboring one as well.

So, here is our day in review:
