I have just returned from a wonderful vacation. We left July 2nd and returned yesterday. Our stops included a flight from Detroit to New York. There we had an amazing time! We had a great view of the HUGE fireworks display from our hotel room on the 42nd floor of the Crowne Plaza in Times Square.
We visited the Statue of Liberty on Liberty Island:
We got some beautiful shots of the Manhattan skyline while up in the Statue. Next was a stop on Ellis Island:
We visited the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Oh my! What a wealth of treasures they have! I enjoyed this museum so much! Breathtaking creations!
We had a hot, but incredible view from our visit to the Empire State Building. It hit 104 degrees there and the air quality was interesting.
Then we took an Amtrak train down to Alexandria, Virginia.
George Washington Masonic Memorial in Alexandria:
From there we took a short taxi ride to the Gaylord Convention Center in National Harbor, Maryland.
I spent four amazing days attending the Close to My Heart Convention. Wow! Incredible things for the coming year from my favorite scrapbooking and stamping company, including 8 beautiful new colors and 4 lovely and fun new paper packs, plus many, many great stamp sets too!
Here are just a few of the highlights at Convention.
Here is a giant logo decal on a window in the Convention Center:

After Convention wrapped up, the family and I spent a couple of days sightseeing in Washington D.C. We visited the Smithsonian's Natural History Museum, American History Museum, and the Air & Space Museum.
We took a night tour of the national monuments too. Here we are at the Lincoln Memorial, my personal favorite:
And, look who we ran into at the airport in Detroit, our son, Adam, on a business trip:
I'll be back to posting artwork soon! For now, thanks for taking a peek at our fantastic vacation memories.
