January News

This month has been packed full of so many things for our family.

We welcomed in the new year with a relaxing day visiting with family and friends. Plenty of gaming was going on as well as lots of Blu-ray movies too!

The kids headed back to school and work, as did Wayne, who enjoyed nearly two weeks away from the daily grind.

Our baby celebrated her birthday with a Mad Hatter Tea Party and sleepover with her girlfriends. It's difficult to believe she can be 15! If only I had imagined how fast precious time with our kiddos would fly by.

Here is the fun birthday cake that Rebekah made for her sister. Isn't it so cute? Rachel just loved it!

Both of the girls did an awesome job with final exams. They studied hard and got the results they worked hard for all semester. We are proud of their achievements.

Rachel is appearing in a production of "Charlotte's Web" at a local theater. She had her photo appear in our local paper which was fun to see. The kids are doing a nice job with this play.

We have had the buzzing and roaring sounds of Adam's snowmobile keeping us on our toes on the weekends he makes it home to visit:

You can see the custom handlebars he added over this weekend to make riding while standing and such a little more comfortable. Looks pretty sweet, my boy! Drive safely!

David is busy back at U of M working on his English degree and Computer Science minor. Anyone who knows of job openings or internships for new grads looking to write, especially in the gaming industry, give us a holler.

I had the pleasure of hosting a crop in celebration of National Papercrafting Month and the debut of the Spring 2010 Idea Book for Close to My Heart. We had a great day of scrapbooking and cardmaking with friends. Thanks, ladies!

That's some of the scoop on life in our household these days.

Let It Snow and Topstitch

When I saw this paper pack, Topstitch, I just fell in love all over with all the pink and blue and chocolate beauty of it! It totally feels like a great winter paper set too. I think of my cozy blue jammies and a cup of cocoa with fuzzy slippers when I get to work with this combo. Don't laugh now!

So, I started out earlier in the month with a 6 x6 card and then also went for a standard card too. I paired Topstitch together with one of the fun new "In the Month of" stamps in the Spring 2010 Idea Book.

Card Recipe: "Wishes" How-To Cardmaking Program: Geometric pattern
Stamp Set: C1402 In the month of January
Paper: Topstitch Level 2 Paper Packet
Cardstock: Baby Pink and Vanilla Cream
Inks: Crystal Blue and Chocolate
Tools: Micro-Tip Scissors, Embossing Stylus, 3-D Foam Tape, and Euro Paper Trimmer

In keeping with the sentiment of my card, I do wish it would snow. We've been in a melting phase for the past week or so and the snow banks are just shrinking. And my son would dearly love to do some more snowmobiling some time soon... LOL

January Stamp of the Month: True Friends card with Caboodle paper

If you visit here often you will have seen a similar version of this card as part of the Stamp of the Month Blog Hop I participated in a few weeks ago. I made this version for a Stamp of the Month swap group I have the pleasure of working with each month.

Here are details for the card:

Project Supplies:
Stamp: D1406 True Friends, January's Stamp of the Month
Paper: Caboodle Level 2 paper packet
Cardstock: Crystal Blue, Sweet Leaf, and Vanilla Cream
Inks: Crystal Blue, Sorbet, Sweet Leaf, and Cocoa
Embellishments: Pewter Brads, Colonial White Designer Ribbon Rounds, and Sweet Leaf Ribbon Rounds
Tools: "Wishes" how-to book, Micro-Tip Scissors, Paper Piercer, and 3-D Foam Tape

Let me know if I can help you get your own "True Friends" stamp set during this month. I am loving it!

Love Birds card, Veranda style

This stamp set was at the top of my wish list for stamps I just had to have from the new Spring 2010 Close to My Heart Idea Book. Isn't it amazing?!?!?

And the new Veranda paper is even more amazing in person, IMHO! I just can't get enough creative time these days to play with all the latest and greatest from CTMH!

Here were my list of Project Supplies:

Stamp Set: C1396 Love Birds
Paper: Veranda Level 2 paper packet
Cardstock: Vanilla Cream
Inks: Black, Garden Green, Creme Brulee, Tulip, and Cocoa
Embellishments: Pewter Brads, Cocoa Grosgrain Ribbon, and Spring Blossom Just Blooms
Tools: "Wishes" how-to book, Micro-Tip Scissors, Paper Piercer, and 3-D Foam Tape

I submitted this card for a couple of swap groups, including one hosted each new Idea Book by Miyuki Williams. She is a gracious swap host!

Another generous swap participant and fellow Close to My Heart consultant, Stephanie Pederslie created this very nice slideshow that features work from the swap group and includes artwork featuring 35 of our new stamp sets for Spring 2010. She has allowed the swap participants to share this slideshow too. How sweet!

Now wasn't that very nice?! I hope you get some play time to do your own creative "work."
