April Stamp of the Month Blog Hop: Close to My Heart's Flower Pot

Welcome to our Stamp of the Month Blog Hop! We will be featuring April's Stamp of the Month, which is "D1409 Flower Pot," a set of 16 stamps.

If you have come here from Angela's Blog, you are on the right path! When you reach the end of my post you will continue hopping along from the link posted for you.

This month we have nearly 70 Close To My Heart Consultants sharing their creations using this month's Stamp of the Month and other great Close to My Heart products on their blogs. Hopping along with us is simple to do - just click on the link at the end of the post on each blog to move to the next one! Here we go!

For my card creation, I used the cardmaker's how-to recipe book, "Wishes" cardmaking how-to program and followed the pattern called, Delightful Dots. The how-to programs from Close to My Heart are such great time-savers for me. The programs really do make my projects come together: "Faster. Simpler. Easier."

Project Supplies:
Stamps: D1409 Flower Pot, April's Stamp of the Month
Paper: Veranda Level 2 paper packet
Cardstock: Cocoa CS, Creme Brulee CS, and Vanilla Cream CS
Inks: Cocoa and Garden Green
Markers: Cocoa, Creme Brulee, and Garden Green
Embellishments: Cocoa Grosgrain Ribbon, Creme Brulee Designer Ribbon, and Pewter Brads
Tools: "Wishes" how-to book, Micro-Tip Scissors, Paper Piercer, Glue Dots, Blending Pen, and various circle punches

I stamped the flower pot onto some of the Veranda B&T paper and cut it out.

For the coloring of the flower and stem, I used Close to My Heart markers along with my Blending Pen to soften my coloring.

From this image below, you can see all of the 16 stamp images including in this stamp set. As you can see, there are many great uses for this set! This set can be a nice addition to both your cardmaking and scrapbooking bag of trickes. In the month of April, you can earn at a discount or even FREE! Ask me how!

Remember, the April stamp of the month is only available until April 30th! Contact your CTMH Consultant (or click here) to see how you can get this stamp set at a discount or even free!

When visiting my website: http://LovetoStamp.myctmh.com you can also find great Close to My Heart scrapbooking and stamping supplies anytime you want, 24/7.

You Rock Layout Workshop in April

My next layout workshop I will teach is coming up quickly. It's being held on April 18th. You can see four of the six pages I will be teaching based on the exclusive workshop kit brochure.

I really love how this layout turned out. My daughter gave me some great material to work with in her sassy and pretty photos I used:

The second layout is the suggested layout shown in the workshop brochure and is based on a pattern from one of our amazing how-to scrapbooking programs, Imagine.

The photos are some I've been saving for this layout. Our kids had a lot of fun on Thanksgiving last year playing Guitar Hero. They were such hams, especially Adam, as you can see. LOL

This "You Rock" workshop kit with it's special stamp set, "Just Be You" are my personal favorite from the Spring 2010 Idea Book. I am having so much fun creating with it!

Let me know if you want to join the workshop fun. I will get your kit ordered for you.

Happy Spring Card: In the Month of April Stamp from Close to My Heart

This was a card I made from my leftover paper scraps after my Caboodle Easter card workshop.

The stamp set: In the Month of April had the the perfect stamps I wanted to make this card just in time to welcome spring:

I did some simple paper piecing for the flower heads on my tulips. 3-D foam tape makes the flowers pop off my card. You can also see I added the very pretty grosgrain floral print ribbon from my Sweet Leaf Ribbon Rounds. That set of ribbon goes with so many paper packs!

Wishing you a warm spring day!

Veranda Layout Workshop

On Sunday, I will teach this workshop to a wonderful group of my friends who get together with me each month for a layout workshop. For March, I am teaching the Veranda Workshop on the Go from Close to My Heart's kit.

Here is my version of the main layout featured in the workshop's exclusive brochure. My daughter, Rachel, went to band camp last summer. The pictures you see on my layout were taken the day we traveled to pick her up. We had the great pleasure of seeing the band share with us the half-time performance they had worked hard to learn during their week of camp. It was a fantastic sight to see!

Needless to say, I was very happy to have my munchin back too! We were also treated to a lunch at the college campus where they spent the week, complete with cold ice cream cones on a very hot day!

In addition to the above pages, we will also complete four more pages during our Veranda workshop, for a total of six pretty pages.

Let me know if you would like to join us for a fun afternoon of crafting sometime soon! I can also get your own kit of the month shipped directly to you if you are a friend from afar.

Don't forget there are just a few more days to take advantage of the "Dare to Dream"

Celebrate Everything You Do

I had the great pleasure of attending a scrapbook retreat over the weekend. I met a wonderful group of women who made me feel welcome as a newcomer. They shared their love of scrapbooking and papercrafting during an amazing weekend.

The setting was secluded and lovely. It proved to be a very serene place to get away and enjoy my favorite hobbies.

Our spiritual leader did a nice job of reminding us that our scrapbooking was a vehicle to share with others our journey in life. Thank you!

Below you can see the first page of my layout, which I shared as a free Make & Take for my new cropping friends. I have to offer thanks for my inspiration for the layout my fellow consultant, Aimee created and shared with me. Thanks, Aimee!

The title seemed perfect for helping me to remember that everyday happenings are just as important in our journey in life as the big, flashy events are.

Next is the companion page:

Project Supplies:
Stamps: D1408 A Little Everything, March's Stamp of the Month
D1320 Shining Star
Paper: You Rock Level 2 paper packet
Cardstock: Sunflower CS, Indian Corn Blue CS, Pansy Purple CS, and White Daisy CS
Inks: Goldrush, Sunflower, Outdoor Denim, Indian Corn Blue, Olive, and Pansy Purple
Embellishments: Outdoor Denim Twill Ribbon and White Daisy Bigger Brads
Tools: "Imagine" how-to book, Micro-Tip Scissors, Paper Piercer, Edge Distresser, Sanding Kit, Foam Tool, Sponge Dauber, Glue Dots, and 3-D Foam Tape.

As you can see I did edge distressing, sanding, and sponging with my Foam Tool and Sponge Dauber too. The larger stars have that tie-dye look due to the stamp rolling technique. First, I inked the star completely with my Sunflower ink pad. Next, I rolled the edges in my Olive ink pad. Finally, I rolled some other edges of the star in Pansy Purple ink. The Sponge Dauber was used to add Outdoor Denim ink around all the edges of the large star after I cut it out.

I had such a wonderful time meeting new friends who share my love for papercrafting! It was also a joy to share my love of Close to My Heart with them. Thanks for the time to share some of my favorite tips and techniques along with my favorite scrapbooking and stamping supplies!

Have a wonderful spring day!

A Recipe to Share - Broccoli Salad

As I mentioned yesterday, I am heading to a weekend crop event on Friday.

Participants are asked to bring a dish to share for Friday's dinner. I will be sharing this recipe. I am going to serve it in my favorite Pampered Chef clear Trifle Bowl to highlight how pretty the variety of colored vegetables looks in this dish.

BROCCOLI SALAD
Dressing:
1 cup Light Miracle Whip
1/3 cup sugar or Splenda
1/4 cup apple cider vinegar

Salad:
4 cups Broccoli florets, chopped***
2 cups Cauliflower, chopped
2 cups Carrots, coarsely shredded
1 pound lean Bacon, cooked well and broken into pieces
1/2 large Red onion,chopped
1/2 cup baking raisins *or dried cherries
optional: Sunflower seeds

To Prepare Dressing:
In a small bowl mix together Miracle Whip, sugar, and vinegar.

Salad: Using your Food Chopper, chop broccoli, cauliflowers, and onions. Combine half the chopped vegetables, bacon bits, raisins (and sunflower seeds, if desired) in layers in the Trifle Bowl. Repeat layers. Cover and chill. Mix dressing ingredients well. To serve – plate salad and drizzle with mayonnaise mixture.

If you prefer, the dressing mixture and be poured over the salad and mixed to thoroughly coat the salad.

***To enhance the broccoli color and taste – wash and drain florets. Place them in your Classic Batter Bowl (no need to add additional water). Place lid on loosely and microwave on high for 3 minutes. Remove and immediately place broccoli in ice water until cool. Drain thoroughly before chopping. (This process will blanch the broccoli.)

Have another wonderful day!

It's a Ducky Easter! March Stamp of the Month Cards

These cards were created as part of my Easter card workshop collection. These three were based on inspiration I found from my fellow Close to My Heart consultant and blog hop participant, Sarita. Her version has a lot of extra pizzazz! Thanks, Sarita!

The card pattern is adapted from the "Wishes" cardmaking how-to program book and is called, "Gallery."

I used the paper and cardstock from the Caboodle Level 2 kit. The adorable duckies and the fashionable rain boots are from the : D1415 Springtime. For the "Happy Easter" sentiment I used the March Stamp of the Month D1408 A Little Everything. The stamp set features many sentiments for cards and pages.

Each card is very similar with little variations:

You may find my posts this week to be sparse. I am attending a weekend crop starting on Friday, so I am busy preparing for some fun time away. Have a super week, everyone!

Love You Forever Cards

The cute stamp set, C1398 Love You Forever, has some adorable images and a line from one of favorite books that I read to my children, Love You Forever by Robert Munsch.

For the first card, I did a little coloring using a Sorbet marker which matches the pattern paper in the Caboodle kit. I love any excuse to get out my Chocolate Polka Dot Organdy ribbon too!

To get the little lamb to appear in the foreground, I used the masking technique and stamped the lamb image first. Next, I masked it with a cut out image I had stamped on scrap paper. Then, while that scrap was in place, I stamped the mama sheep over it. I colored in the bell with my Buttercup marker. The "Happy Easter" sentiment comes from the March Stamp of the Month set, D1408 A Little Everything.

If you would like to see more March Stamp of the Month work, you can refer to my prior post here. This was my contribution to the monthly blog hop I participate in.

Also, don't forget about the "Dare to Dream" promotion happening in March with Close to My Heart. There is a fabulous new consultant kit offer available where you get four free stamp sets worth $91.80 in addition to the already great value in your kit. The kit is just $99 is you end up receiving about $400 worth of great scrapbooking, cardmaking, stamping, and business supplies to start your new business off right!

Springtime is a Caboodle of Fun with Close to My Heart

Okay, so I hope you can stand some more of the fun Easter cards I've made. These are my personal favorites.

The card pattern is from the "Wishes" cardmaking how-to program book and is called, "Gallery."

I used the paper and cardstock from the Caboodle Level 2 kit and the stamp set is D1415 Springtime. For the "Happy Easter Happy Spring" sentiment I cut my stamps apart (GASP!). The stamp set features "Happy Spring" and "Easter Wishes" as the sentiment. So, I just cut them apart to make what you see on my cards.

The first version had a little oopsy with my raindrops stamping off onto the card base. My bad!

The only differences in this second version is there's no oopsy with the stamping and the boots are a different color. I am so geeked with the outline rainboot stamp that allows me to make the boots from whatever patterned paper I want! How sweet!

Both of these cards feature some Liquid Glass to make my raindrops have a dimensional shine.

Caboodle Easter Cards

Day 3 of our Caboodle Easter cards:

This first card is done according to the brochure directions for the Caboodle card workshop. The Dimensional Element you see as the focal point has been sponged with Vanilla Cream pigment ink then stamped after dry. This allowed me to match my chipboard to my cardstock.:

The next card changes to become an Easter card with the addition of the little Easter basket from the Holiday Hoopla stamp set (D1382). The tulips and "Hunting for Eggs" come from the "In the Month of April" stamp set(C1405). I really enjoy the dimension you get when you use the chipboard "Booksmart" Dimensional Elements that are included in the Caboodle Basic Kit. The metal Tiny Tabs are really a fun embellishment that matches the Caboodle papers perfectly.

My last version of this card is done without benefit of the chipboard element. I decided to use chocolate ink to stamp the "Hunting for Eggs" sentiment for this card.

The spring feeling continues here. I saw 60 degrees while out and about this afternoon. Simply gorgeous. The snow is quickly disappearing!

Tonight promises to be fun. Our girl is in a Quiz Bowl event so hubby and I are heading out to watch the little smarty pants.

Caboodle Cards are Just Ducky

As promised here is the next installment in my Caboodle workshop cards that are perfect for springtime and Easter too.

This first card shows the suggested card number 2 from the Caboodle workshop brochure modified to include the brads I placed in the scalloped circle Dimensional Element:

My second card uses the same card design but includes the adorable ducky from the "Springtime" stamp set and the "Happy Easter" came from the March Stamp of the Month, "A Little Everything.""

My third version includes some faux grass behind the little ducky. Thanks to my friend, Casandra for suggesting that during Sunday's workshop. I like that look too.

I hope you enjoyed another sunny day. We had a little rain added in, but it was still a warm day.
I enjoyed running my errands without a jacket.

We took the opportunity tonight to support our friends the Bebenek's, who just opened their new restaurant this week. The Polish Kitchen is going to be a great success. The food is excellent!
